The Author

Porträt von Jannik Ophey Jannik Ophey · est. 2007

Stories about control – over ourselves, over others, over what systems turn us into.

Born in 2007 in North Rhine-Westphalia, I started inventing and writing down stories back in primary school – and kept refining my storytelling over the years. At 15, a fascination with technology took hold, and with it the question of what happens when technology overwhelms humanity.

In 2021 I came up with the idea of a future world in which life works fundamentally differently. I built it out piece by piece and shared it with my cousin – his interest motivated me to keep adding new details and characters to the world.

When a nightmare became reality in 2022, I decided to turn that idea into a book. Today I work as an IT specialist for systems integration – and build that knowledge straight into my worlds.

Appreciate the people in your life. Anyone can suddenly be gone. #fckCancer

Why I write

Writing has a therapeutic effect on me: it lets me fully immerse myself in another world – and shape it until it holds.

/B

My themes

Control in all its forms – over yourself and others, over influence and dependence. And the question of what memory is worth once it can be taken.

/C

Tech in the text

As an IT specialist I build real technology into my stories – as vividly as possible, never as mere set dressing.

Nullskin Protocol

A dead mercenary. A digital echo. A city in the chokehold of corporations.

In Megaplexia, surveillance is law and forgetting is a commodity. Luna and Sophia Raven stumble into a web of corporations, shadow zones and memory theft – and must decide how much truth they can bear.

Read the blurb
In the shadows of Megaplexia, deepliner Sophia Raven discovers a neural signal and unleashes an experiment that was never meant for the public: Nullskin Protocol. What begins as a data trail becomes a hunt for identity, power and control. Because in a world where memories can be manipulated and bodies replaced, the most dangerous enemy is the one already inside your head.

If you love sinking completely into a world and still finding new details on the second or third read, Nullskin Protocol is exactly where you belong. The story is direct, charged and always to the point. A cyberpunk thriller that truly packs a punch.
